Is it a mistake to have a "Dream" Home?

Is it a mistake to have a "dream" home? Or even room?
It seems to me that it might be a mistake to pin our hopes and dreams on a room.
Should you renovate if you have the means & the opportunity? (and you want to)
Sure.
Should it be the way you want it? Yes, of course. As much as possible. Will it solve some problems in your life? It better. Will it solve all of them? Nope.
Are there going to be pieces from your dream room that can't or won't work?
Uhuh.
So maybe we take the pressure off the room and remember that the dream is more likely about connecting to people or creating a refuge.
The dream is a giant island, so people can gather around it. Or space to cook for people, so you can connect over a meal.
Especially if a reno isn't in the cards. It's not really about the reno. The trends will change, mistakes will be made. Even if you do renovate there will be things you won't love anymore in 5 or 10 years. Things will start to show wear. Your dream room will evolve over time. Your needs will change. This is good. This is life.
Do not let perfection be the enemy of the good. Or of better. Do not lose sight that the end result of renovations, or even a mini makeover will give you a place you like more & is designed to better support you & your family.
So whatever your dreaming of, go for it. Get the bigger sectional your whole family can pile on to. Renovate your kitchen with your dream island your kids can do their home work at while you cook dinner. Just remember dreams change.
